Digital Government Policies and their Impact on Achieving Digital Sustainability in the Jeddah Municipality: An Exploratory Study
Abstract
The objective of this research was to explore how digital government policies influence digital sustainability within Jeddah Municipality. The research focused on four key dimensions: capabilities, governance, participation, and digital transformation. A descriptive-analytical and inductive, specific methodology was employed to achieve the objectives of the study. Primary data were collected through a Survey Questionnaire distributed to a simple random sample of 348 employees from a total population of 3,738. SPSS software was utilized to analyze the collected data.
The findings indicated that the Jeddah Municipality possesses significant technological capabilities that support efforts toward achieving digital sustainability. There is clear evidence of the municipality’s commitment to implementing digital government practices, particularly through strong support from top management for digital transformation initiatives. Additionally, the municipality has established a strategic action plan that aligns with its broader vision for digital development.
The research identified a statistically significant correlation (p ≤ 0.05) linking digital government policies with various aspects of digital sustainability. These findings underscore the importance of integrated digital strategies in enhancing sustainable governance outcomes.
Based on the findings, the study recommends continued investment in employee training to enhance digital skills and technical capacity. Ongoing development in this area is expected to improve administrative performance and play a role in effectively implementing digital transformation projects throughout the municipality.
