The Relationship between Transformational Leadership and Achieving Organizational Excellence in Non-profit Organizations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the direct relationship between the transformational leadership and the institutional excellence achievement in non-profitable institutions in the kingdoms of Saudi Arabia. An analytical-descriptive research methodology was used to describe the phenomenon under study. An investigation list was designed as a tool for collecting data which was administered to a randomly stratified sample of 810 employees, at non-profitable institutions. However, 430 questionnaire copies were valid for analysis. Then, AMOS and SPSS were used to analyse the data.
The study revealed a number of findings, most notably ones were: the level of practicing the institutional excellence and transformational leadership in non-profitable institutions was high; and there was a direct relationship between the transformational leadership with its dimensions (ideal effect, inspired motive, intellectual consultation, caring about individuals) and the institutional excellence with its dimensions (focusing on consumers, continuous innovation, career commitment) in non-profitable institutions ( = 0.814).
Accordingly, the study recommended the non-profitable institutions to necessarily consider the institutional excellence as an organisational practice and strategic tool rather than a goal for gaining prizes; and there is a need to approve and attract spired transformational leaders who can motivate, affect and contribute in reinforcing the continuous innovation and making individuals of higher commitment to their institutions; this may make a full thrust towards the consumer and comprehend modern work concepts as a culture of institutional excellence in the profitable sector to increasingly attract this sector.
