The Impact of Crowd Management on Risk Perception and Preventive Behaviors Among Sports Stadium Fans During Covid-19 Pandemic
Abstract
The study aims to identify the impact of crowd management (CM) on risk perception (RP) and preventive behaviors (PB) among sports stadium fans during the COVID-19 pandemic. For answering the research questions of the study, the authors utilized a descriptive analytical method, due to its suitability to the subject of the current study. The authors used a questionnaire as a main tool for a data collection and performing the study. The population includes all fans of sports stadiums, and those interested in mass gatherings and entertainment from different regions in Saudi Arabia.
The sample of the study was (262) persons from the study community. The study reached several results, the most important of which were: The study showed that the size of the impact of the independent variable (CM) in sports stadiums on the dependent variable (RP) among sports stadium fans was high. It is about 53.0% of risk perception among sports stadium fans was due to sports stadium crowd management whereas it is about 47.0% of risk perception was due to reasons differ than crowd management.
The study showed that the impact of the independent variable (CM) in sports stadiums on the dependent variable (PB) among sports stadium fans was low, and that represented 25.4% of preventive behaviors among sports stadium fans were related to CM whereas it is about 74.6% were due to reasons other than CM. The obtained results of our study have highlighted recommendations. Importantly, the CM should issue visual and audible instructions and directives to modify the preventive behaviors of the fans of sports stadiums. Next, there is a need to implement awareness campaigns about preventive behaviors while entering and leaving sports stadiums. Lastly, it is highly recommended to conducting further studies that develops proposed scenarios to increase risks awareness and preventive behaviors among sports stadium fans.
