Abstract

This research aimed to examine the impact of green human resource management practices on sustainable competitive advantage of transformational industries in Egypt. Descriptive analytical approach was followed. Sample size was 347 employees with response rate 95.9%. The research reached several results, the most important of which is the presence of variance in employees’ perception of both green human resource management practices and sustainable competitive advantage based on the organization activity. It has also been proven that there is a significant positive correlation between the dimensions of green human resource management practices and dimensions of sustainable competitive advantage, and that green human resource management practices have a significant positive impact on sustainable competitive advantage as the regression model explained (59.8%) of the variance in sustainable competitive advantage based on the variance in green human resource management practices. In addition, the dimensions of green human resource management practices have a positive significant impact on each dimension of sustainable competitive advantage, as the regression models explained (50.5%, 58.1%, and 56.2%) of the variance in effective supply chain management, organizational responsiveness, and product differentiation and innovation (respectively) based on the variance in the dimensions of green human resource management practices.  Finally, The research provided recommendations to enhance organizations’ ability to achieve sustainable competitive advantage the most important of which is the adoption of green organizational culture, the expansion of green practices to include all the organization’s activities, paying attention to social responsibility programs supporting the environment, encouraging employees to provide environmental initiatives and enhancing their environmental awareness and engagement.
