The Impact of Management Information Systems (MIS) Effectiveness On Improving the Decision-making Process in Higher Education Institutions in the Sultanate of Oman

Abstract

This study aimed to study the impact of the effectiveness of management information systems on improving the decision-making process in higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman. The study community consisted of administrative staff in higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman and the study sample included (268) employee.


The researcher adopted the descriptive-analytical approach as the study method and used the questionnaire as the study tool. The study concluded many results including that higher education institutions rely heavily on the management information system and that higher education institutions are concerned with the decision-making process by following strategies that help identify the problem and find a solution to it. Also, there were no statistically significant differences between the responses of the study sample members according to the educational level variable and this is because all employees can realize the role of management information systems in decision-making because of the experiences that are gained during work.


The study recommended many recommendations including depending on advanced modern software within higher education institutions.
