Decision -Making Methods During Crisis: A Field Study on a Sample of Administrative Leaders at King Saud University
Abstract
The study aims to identify the methods of decision-making during a crisis. The study population consisted of the administrative leaders at King Saud University. To achieve the goals of the study a descriptive approach has been used on (81) leaders. A questionnaire has been used for identifying the opinions of the survey. The most remarkable findings showed the use of shared decision making during crisis as traditional method during crisis at King Saud University, and it was ranked first, also the experience method as a traditional method during crisis ranked as second. The personal judgment as traditional method during crisis ranked as the last, and gaming method as modern method during crisis ranked as the last. Also, the study showed that courses in decision-making enable leaders to take an appropriate decision during crisis. The study showed there is no statistically significant differences between the averages of the responses of the sample members about the three parts of methods of decision-making during a crisis due to the educational level, years of experience, and training courses variables. In light of its findings the study recommended improving leadership skills in taking modern decisions by coducting training courses and workshops. Also, provision the machines and utility to help for applying modern decision-making. Finally, conducting a comparative study between Saudi public universities, aiming to find out the methods that are practiced when making decisions during crises to know the most distinguished university, and to benefit from its experiences.
