Abstract
The study aims to identify the level of employee empowerment of female staff in the government ministries in Riyadh, and the level of employee engagement, as well as the impact of employee empowerment on employee engagement.
The study used the descriptive survey method to describe the perceptions of the respondents about one of the government ministries, (392) female administrative staff in one of the ministries in Riyadh were surveyed. The study showed several results, there is an average level of employee empowerment among female administrative staff, The study results showed that the respondents have a significant engagement to their jobs. It has also shown that employee empowerment, especially the factors (professional development, teamwork, independence and discretion, participation in decision making and policy making) affect (76.2%) of employee engagement. It also shown that the professional development has the most impact on employee engagement for administrative staff, followed by teamwork, independence and discretion, then participation in decision making and policy-making. However, the possession of information and the delegation of authority did not have significant effect on the employee engagement.
Finally, the study recommended the necessity to increase the level of employee empowerment and employee engagement by providing a work environment where there is coherence and cooperation, workshops and training courses, establishing a fair system of rewards, giving employees sufficient freedom and independence and participating in decision making, In addition to support the principle of self-reliance and providing organizational support for this, and strengthen the training on understanding the authority and how to deal with it.
