The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Job Satisfaction: A Field Study on Administrative Employees
Abstract
This study examines the impact of using artificial intelligence (AI) tools on employee satisfaction from the perspective of administrative staff at King Abdulaziz University. The significance of this research stems from its focus on one of the leading higher education institutions in Saudi Arabia and its investigation of how AI applications-particularly chatbots-affect different dimensions of job satisfaction. The study employed a descriptive-analytical method and used a structured questionnaire to collect data from a simple random sample of 309 administrative employees.
The findings revealed a statistically significant impact of AI utilization on all dimensions of job satisfaction. Specifically, the use of AI tools increased overall job satisfaction by 39%, improved time efficiency and decision-making by 25.4%, enhanced job security by 13.7%, and strengthened the work environment and relationships among employees by 22.2%. These results highlight the growing role of AI in enhancing administrative performance and promoting employee well-being within academic institutions.
The study recommends empowering employees to effectively adopt AI tools in their daily work while ensuring data privacy, confidentiality, and accuracy. It also emphasizes the need for continuous professional development programs to enhance digital competence, encourage ethical AI use, and build confidence in technology-driven work environments. By addressing these aspects, organizations can leverage AI to create a more efficient, adaptive, and satisfying workplace culture.
