The journal adopts the ethical standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The following is the journal's specific statement on scientific publishing ethics, which relies on the principles of the global publication ethics committee and includes specific ethical regulations and rules for the editorial board, reviewers, and researchers.
Researcher's Responsibility:
- Adherence to the principles and standards of research and publication ethics.
- Submission of original research and provision of a reference list used in the study.
- Compliance with the journal's rules in writing their research.
- Adherence to citation and documentation rules and publication ethics.
- Avoidance of submitting work previously published in other journals, unless substantial modifications have been made to the research or title. Researchers must also avoid submitting their work to more than one journal at a time, as this is contrary to global publication ethics.
- Publishing their research in other journals only after receiving an official rejection from the current journal or if the journal officially agrees to the withdrawal request.
- Ensuring that all contributing authors who have significantly contributed to the research have given their approval before submitting for publication.
- Properly acknowledging the contributions of others in the research and ordering the names of the researchers according to their scientific contribution.
- Expressing thanks and appreciation to those who contributed to the research but are not listed as authors.
- Disclosing any conflicts of interest to the editorial board that may affect the evaluation of the submitted research.
- Avoiding unethical behavior, such as submitting the same research to more than one journal at a time, and withdrawing it from the journal if the researcher decides to submit elsewhere.
- Guaranteeing the originality of their research and its compliance with professional research ethics standards, especially regarding human and animal rights, if involved in the research.
- Steering clear of all forms of unethical behavior such as plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification.
- In the event of discovering a significant error in their published research, the researcher must notify the journal's editorial board to correct or retract the error.
- Revising their research according to the reviewers' suggestions. If the researcher disagrees with the proposed amendments, they must provide a logical justification. If no convincing reasons are given, the journal reserves the right to refuse publication.
Reviewer's Responsibility:
- The peer review process is a critical stage in scientific publishing, and the scientific publishing unit at the Girls' College ensures the professionalism of reviewers and their commitment to the global publication ethics and principles. Hence, the reviewer must:
- Fully comply with the global publication ethics committee's standards for reviewers when reviewing research.
- Inform the editor-in-chief if they are not prepared to review the submitted research and withdraw from the review process.
- Maintain a distance from personal interests, such as using information obtained from reviewed research for their own benefit.
- Refuse to review research where there is a conflict of interest due to competitive relationships or other connections with the author.
- Ensure the research is free from plagiarism or literary theft and inform the editor-in-chief of any similarity between the reviewed research and any other known published work.
- Comply with confidentiality standards related to the review process, treating the research as confidential documents, and not disclosing or discussing them with others except as authorized by the editor-in-chief.
- Exercise objectivity in judgments and conclusions derived from the review process.
- Express their opinion with integrity and clarity, providing supporting arguments.
- Adhere to the designated timeframe for the review process.
Editor-in-Chief's Responsibility:
- The editor-in-chief, in collaboration with the editorial board, is responsible for selecting appropriate reviewers in complete confidentiality based on the subject matter of the research and the reviewer's expertise.
- The editor-in-chief bears the ultimate responsibility for all publication submissions.
- The publication or non-publication decision is based on the reviewers' reports, their comments, the scientific value of the research, its originality, and its relevance to the journal's field of expertise.
Editors must:
- Ensure the confidentiality of the peer-review process and the information provided by the reviewers.
- Ensure that the submitted research conforms to the ethics and principles of scientific publishing.
- Avoid discrimination against authors based on gender, origin, religious belief, citizenship, or political affiliation.
- Address authors' complaints and retain any relevant documents related to such complaints.
- Ensure that research reviews are conducted confidentially.
